.400 Legend Straight-Wall Performance

The .400 Legend provides hunters with a modern straight-wall cartridge option designed around substantial downrange energy and practical hunting performance. It is particularly attractive to hunters in areas where regulations permit straight-wall centerfire cartridges while restricting certain traditional bottleneck rifle cartridges.

Combined with the XPR's accuracy-oriented bolt-action design, the .400 Legend creates a capable platform for whitetail deer, hogs, and other appropriate game at suitable hunting distances.

Always verify current state and local hunting regulations before selecting a cartridge for a particular hunting season or game species.

Compact 20-Inch Barrel

The 20-inch barrel strikes an excellent balance between ballistic performance and maneuverability. Its compact profile makes the XPR Extreme SR easier to handle inside blinds and tree stands while remaining comfortable to carry through dense timber and brush.

For hunters who prioritize portability without wanting an excessively short hunting rifle, the 20-inch configuration provides a versatile middle ground.

FDE Cerakote Protection

The Flat Dark Earth Cerakote finish gives the XPR Extreme SR a rugged, subdued appearance while adding protection to exterior metal surfaces.

Cerakote is especially valuable on a field rifle that may encounter rain, humidity, mud, vegetation, and changing temperatures throughout hunting season.

Mossy Oak Bottomland Camo Stock

The synthetic stock is finished in legendary Mossy Oak Bottomland camouflage, providing a natural bark-inspired pattern that blends exceptionally well into timber, blinds, tree lines, and wooded hunting environments.

Beyond camouflage, synthetic construction provides excellent resistance to moisture and environmental changes, making it a practical choice for an all-weather hunting rifle.

Winchester M.O.A. Trigger System

Winchester's M.O.A. Trigger System is engineered to provide a crisp, predictable trigger pull with minimal unnecessary movement.

A clean trigger break helps shooters maintain proper sight alignment and reduces unwanted rifle movement at the moment of the shot—an important advantage when accuracy matters in the field.

Free-Floating Barrel

The XPR utilizes a free-floating barrel configuration that minimizes unwanted contact between the barrel and stock.

By helping maintain consistent barrel harmonics, the free-floating design contributes to the repeatable accuracy expected from a modern bolt-action hunting rifle.

Smooth XPR Bolt Operation

The XPR action is engineered for dependable operation in real-world hunting conditions. A Nickel Teflon coating on the bolt promotes smooth cycling while adding protection against corrosion and wear.

This low-friction design provides confident bolt manipulation when a quick follow-up shot is required.

Detachable Box Magazine

A detachable box magazine makes loading and unloading straightforward while providing a convenient ammunition management system for transportation and field use.

The magazine integrates cleanly with the XPR stock to preserve the rifle's streamlined hunting profile.

Threaded Muzzle

The factory-threaded barrel allows the use of compatible muzzle accessories where legal and appropriate.

Always verify the rifle's exact muzzle thread specification and ensure any accessory is appropriate for .400 Legend before installation. Follow Winchester and accessory-manufacturer specifications for compatibility and installation.

Inflex Technology Recoil Pad

Winchester's Inflex Technology recoil pad is engineered to help direct recoil forces away from the shooter's face while providing a comfortable interface at the shoulder.

This helps make extended range sessions and repeated field practice more comfortable while promoting consistent rifle positioning.

Optics-Ready Hunting Rifle

The receiver is drilled and tapped for compatible scope bases, allowing hunters to configure the XPR Extreme SR with an optic appropriate for their preferred hunting environment and shooting distances.

Select bases, rings, and optics specifically compatible with the XPR platform and follow manufacturer torque specifications during installation.

Built for Serious Hunting Conditions

The combination of a 20-inch barrel, .400 Legend chambering, Cerakote metal finish, synthetic Bottomland stock, threaded muzzle, and dependable XPR action creates a rifle particularly well suited to demanding field use.

Its configuration makes it an excellent choice for:

• Whitetail deer hunting
• Hog hunting
• Ground blinds and tree stands
• Thick timber and brush
• Straight-wall cartridge hunting areas where permitted
• Wet and challenging hunting conditions
• Recreational range practice

Use & Maintenance

Use only commercially manufactured .400 Legend ammunition meeting Winchester's specifications. Always verify that the rifle is completely unloaded before cleaning, inspection, adjustment, transportation, or storage.

Follow the Winchester owner's manual for barrel cleaning, bolt maintenance, lubrication, magazine care, trigger inspection, and long-term storage. Regularly inspect the muzzle threads, optic mounting hardware, stock, action, and magazine to ensure proper condition.
