Compact 20-Inch Spiral-Fluted Barrel

The 20-inch barrel provides an excellent balance between ballistic performance and maneuverability. Its shorter profile makes the XPR Extreme SR easier to handle in dense woods, hunting blinds, vehicles, and other confined environments compared with longer hunting rifles.

Spiral fluting removes unnecessary barrel material to help reduce weight while maintaining rigidity where needed. It also gives the Extreme SR a distinctive premium appearance that immediately separates it from a standard XPR configuration.

Threaded Muzzle for Added Versatility

The threaded barrel expands the rifle's versatility by allowing the use of compatible muzzle devices and suppressors where lawful.

The compact 20-inch barrel is particularly attractive to hunters planning to use a suppressor because it helps keep the rifle's overall length manageable once a compatible suppressor is installed.

Always verify caliber, thread pattern, bore alignment, and manufacturer compatibility before attaching a muzzle device or suppressor.

FDE Cerakote Protection

A rugged Flat Dark Earth Cerakote finish provides more than distinctive styling. Cerakote is designed to provide increased protection against moisture, corrosion, abrasion, and the environmental exposure commonly encountered during hunting.

Paired with the synthetic stock, the protected metalwork makes the XPR Extreme SR particularly well suited for hunters who regularly encounter rain, mud, humidity, and changing temperatures.

Mossy Oak Bottomland Camo Stock

The Mossy Oak Bottomland camo synthetic stock combines proven hunting camouflage with the durability and low-maintenance characteristics of modern synthetic construction.

Bottomland's bark-inspired pattern is especially effective in timber, hardwood bottoms, wooded terrain, and other environments dominated by natural brown and dark vertical elements.

Unlike traditional wood, the synthetic stock is highly resistant to moisture and environmental changes, making it an excellent choice for demanding hunting conditions.

Winchester M.O.A. Trigger System

Winchester's M.O.A. Trigger System is engineered to provide a clean, predictable trigger break with minimal take-up, creep, and overtravel.

A crisp and consistent trigger helps shooters take advantage of the rifle's inherent accuracy and provides greater confidence when precise shot placement matters.

Smooth Nickel Teflon-Coated Bolt

The XPR's bolt incorporates a Nickel Teflon coating designed to promote smooth cycling while providing additional resistance to corrosion.

The slick surface treatment is particularly beneficial on a hunting rifle intended for exposure to dirt, moisture, and adverse field conditions.

Free-Floating Barrel for Consistent Accuracy

The barrel is configured to remain free floating, helping prevent inconsistent stock pressure from influencing barrel harmonics.

Combined with Winchester's rigid XPR action, precision barrel construction, and M.O.A. Trigger System, this design provides an accuracy-focused foundation suitable for serious hunting applications.

Proven .308 Winchester Performance

The .308 Winchester remains one of the most popular centerfire hunting cartridges in North America thanks to its combination of accuracy, manageable recoil, efficient performance, and extensive factory ammunition availability.

A broad selection of bullet weights and hunting loads makes the XPR Extreme SR adaptable to deer, hogs, and numerous other game species where the cartridge is legal and appropriate.

Detachable Box Magazine

A detachable box magazine provides convenient loading and unloading while maintaining the practical simplicity expected from a hunting rifle.

The removable magazine also allows the rifle to be quickly prepared for transportation or storage after verifying that both the magazine and chamber are empty.

Purpose-Built for Demanding Hunts

The XPR Extreme SR is particularly well suited to hunters who prioritize durability over decorative finishes. Its combination of FDE Cerakote, Mossy Oak Bottomland camouflage, synthetic furniture, threaded muzzle, spiral-fluted barrel, and corrosion-resistant bolt coating creates a rifle designed to handle real-world field conditions.

Whether hunting from a blind, navigating thick timber, or covering significant ground on foot, its compact 20-inch configuration provides practical handling without sacrificing the proven performance of the .308 Winchester cartridge.

Use & Maintenance

Use only commercially manufactured .308 Winchester ammunition that meets Winchester's specifications for the rifle. Always verify the firearm is completely unloaded and remove the magazine before cleaning, inspection, transportation, or storage.

Follow Winchester's owner's manual for recommended cleaning, lubrication, and maintenance procedures. Periodically inspect and clean the bore, chamber, bolt, magazine, trigger assembly, and threaded muzzle area.

When using the threaded muzzle, ensure any installed accessory is specifically compatible with the rifle's caliber and thread specifications. Follow the accessory manufacturer's installation and maintenance requirements.
