Proven .308 Winchester Chambering

The .308 Winchester has earned its reputation as one of the most versatile centerfire hunting cartridges available. Its broad selection of commercially available hunting ammunition allows shooters to select loads appropriate for a variety of hunting applications.

Pairing .308 Winchester with the BAR MK4's semi-automatic action creates a capable platform for hunters who want proven cartridge performance combined with quick follow-up capability.

22-Inch Barrel

A 22-inch barrel gives the BAR MK4 a practical balance between ballistic performance and maneuverability.

The configuration is long enough to take advantage of the capabilities of .308 Winchester while remaining manageable in blinds, tree stands, timber, and other common hunting environments.

Gas-Operated Semi-Automatic Action

The Browning BAR family is known for its gas-operated semi-automatic action, providing smooth cycling and allowing the shooter to make follow-up shots without manually cycling a bolt between shots.

Gas operation also contributes to a smoother shooting experience by using a portion of the cartridge's operating energy to cycle the action.

Mossy Oak Bottomland Camo Stock

The Mossy Oak Bottomland camouflage stock gives this BAR MK4 a classic hunting appearance built around one of the most recognizable camouflage patterns in the field.

Bottomland's natural bark, shadow, and earth-tone pattern is particularly well suited to timber, wooded environments, blinds, and tree stands.

Durable Synthetic Construction

A synthetic stock provides the durability needed for serious field use. Unlike traditional wood, synthetic construction is highly resistant to the dimensional changes associated with moisture and changing environmental conditions.

The result is a hunting-oriented stock that can handle rain, mud, vegetation, and regular field use while requiring relatively straightforward maintenance.

Fast Follow-Up Capability

One of the major advantages of the BAR MK4 platform is its ability to deliver rapid follow-up capability while retaining the handling characteristics of a traditional hunting rifle.

The semi-automatic action automatically cycles after each shot, allowing the shooter to remain focused on the target and sight picture.

Detachable Magazine System

A detachable magazine system provides convenient ammunition management and simplifies normal loading and unloading.

Its hunting-focused design integrates cleanly with the rifle while maintaining the streamlined profile expected from the Browning BAR platform.

Optics-Ready Hunting Platform

The BAR MK4 is designed to accommodate compatible riflescope mounting solutions, allowing hunters to configure the rifle around their preferred optic and intended hunting environment.

Choose bases, rings, and optics specifically compatible with the BAR MK4 configuration and follow manufacturer specifications during installation.

Built for Serious Big-Game Hunting

Combining the .308 Winchester cartridge, 22-inch barrel, gas-operated semi-automatic action, and Mossy Oak Bottomland synthetic stock gives the BAR MK4 impressive versatility for the field.

This configuration is particularly well suited for:

• Whitetail deer hunting
• Hog hunting
• Appropriate big-game hunting
• Timber and wooded terrain
• Ground blinds and tree stands
• Field and recreational shooting

Comfortable Field Handling

The BAR MK4 maintains the hunting-oriented ergonomics that have helped make Browning's BAR rifles popular with generations of hunters.

Its stock geometry and recoil pad provide a comfortable shoulder interface, while the balanced 22-inch barrel supports a natural swing and stable shooting position.

Use & Maintenance

Use only commercially manufactured .308 Winchester ammunition that meets Browning specifications. Before cleaning, inspection, transportation, or storage, completely unload the rifle and verify that both the chamber and magazine are empty.

Follow the Browning owner's manual for recommended barrel cleaning, gas-system maintenance, lubrication, magazine care, and storage procedures. Periodically inspect the action, stock, magazine, optic mounting hardware, and other components for proper condition.
