Classic Model 70 Controlled Round Feed

One of the defining characteristics of the Model 70 is its controlled round feed system. The large claw extractor captures the cartridge as it feeds from the magazine and maintains control through chambering and extraction.

This proven mechanical design has helped establish the Model 70's reputation among generations of hunters who demand dependable operation in the field.

Winchester M.O.A. Trigger System

The M.O.A. Trigger System is engineered to provide a clean and predictable trigger break with minimal take-up, creep, and overtravel.

A consistent trigger contributes to shooter confidence and helps hunters take advantage of the inherent accuracy of the Model 70 platform.

Lightweight 22-Inch Featherweight Barrel

The 22-inch Featherweight barrel helps reduce overall carrying weight while maintaining a practical barrel length for the .30-06 Springfield cartridge.

For hunters covering substantial distances on foot, the Featherweight profile offers a desirable combination of portability, balance, and field performance.

Distinctive Dark Maple Wood Stock

The Dark Maple wood stock gives this Model 70 a distinctive appearance that stands apart from conventional walnut and synthetic hunting rifles.

Natural wood grain and rich coloration provide classic sporting-rifle character, while functional checkering creates additional traction at key gripping surfaces. The result is a rifle with both premium visual appeal and practical field ergonomics.

Versatile .30-06 Springfield Chambering

The .30-06 Springfield remains one of the most established and versatile hunting cartridges available. Its broad selection of factory ammunition and bullet weights allows hunters to choose loads appropriate for a wide variety of sporting applications.

When paired with the Model 70's proven action and 22-inch barrel, the .30-06 chambering creates a versatile hunting rifle suitable for many North American big-game applications where legal and appropriate.

Three-Position Safety

Winchester's three-position safety is a hallmark of the Model 70 design.

Its positions allow the shooter to select between normal firing operation, a safe condition that still permits bolt operation, and a safe condition that locks the bolt closed. This provides practical control when loading, unloading, carrying, and handling the rifle in the field.

Free-Floating Barrel & Accuracy-Focused Construction

The Model 70 incorporates an accuracy-oriented action and free-floating barrel configuration designed to minimize unwanted stock pressure on the barrel.

Combined with Winchester's barrel manufacturing, rigid receiver design, and M.O.A. Trigger System, the result is a hunting rifle engineered around consistent, repeatable performance.

Hinged Floorplate

The traditional hinged floorplate maintains the clean lines of a classic hunting rifle while providing convenient access to the internal magazine.

This configuration eliminates the need to carry a separate detachable magazine and complements the traditional character of the Model 70 Featherweight.

Designed for the Serious Hunter

The combination of a 22-inch Featherweight barrel, Dark Maple stock, .30-06 Springfield chambering, controlled round feed, and M.O.A. Trigger System makes this Model 70 particularly appealing to hunters who want traditional styling without giving up modern performance.

Its lighter barrel profile is well suited to mobile hunting situations where carrying comfort matters, while the .30-06 chambering provides the versatility needed for a broad range of appropriate game.

Use & Maintenance

Use only .30-06 Springfield ammunition that meets Winchester's specifications for the rifle. Always confirm the rifle is completely unloaded and the chamber and magazine are empty before cleaning, inspection, transportation, or storage.

Follow Winchester's owner's manual for recommended cleaning, lubrication, and inspection procedures. Periodically clean the bore and chamber and inspect the bolt, extractor, trigger, safety, and other components for proper condition.

Because this model features a genuine wood stock, avoid prolonged exposure to excessive moisture, extreme heat, and harsh cleaning chemicals. Wipe the stock dry after exposure to wet conditions and maintain the wood finish according to Winchester's recommendations.
