What thickness of neoprene is best for duck hunting?
For cold-front, open-water hunts, 5mm neoprene chest waders offer the most warmth. For milder days or timber walking, 3.5mm–4mm neoprene or breathable waders keep you from overheating on the walk in.
Breathable vs. neoprene waders — which should I choose?
Breathable waders are lighter and better for long walks or warmer weather, worn with layers you can adjust. Neoprene waders provide built-in insulation and are better suited to sitting still in cold water for hours.
How do I find the right wader size?
Chest waders should fit true to your normal clothing size with room for base layers. Sizing runs slightly differently by brand — check the size chart on each product page, or stop by the store and our team will fit you.
Do these waders come with a warranty?
Yes — every wader we carry is backed by its manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship (not general wear and tear). Coverage varies by brand: Sitka covers manufacturing defects for the practical lifespan of the wader. Drake backs most current wader models with a 3-year “Strap to Sole” replacement warranty (4 years on the BMF1600 Kevlar). Banded also warranties against manufacturer defects, though the exact term can vary by model — check the hang tag or ask our team and we'll confirm before you buy. Warranty claims are handled directly through each manufacturer, and we're happy to help you start that process if you ever need it.
How do I take care of my hunting waders?
Rinse waders after every hunt, air dry away from direct heat, and store loosely folded or hung — never crammed in a bag for long periods, which can crack the material at the folds.
