XTRATUF Boots FAQ

Questions about fit, care or which XTRATUF is right for you? Give us a call or stop by DNW Outdoors in Jonesboro. Ready to go? Shop XTRATUF boots.

What are XTRATUF boots made of?

Classic XTRATUF Legacy boots use a triple-dipped neoprene shell over a rubber foot, finished with XTRATUF's signature chevron outsole. Neoprene keeps the boots flexible and comfortable while resisting fish oils, fuel and chemicals that can break down ordinary rubber.

Are XTRATUF boots waterproof?

Yes. Boots in the XTRATUF Legacy collection are 100% waterproof. Just keep in mind that any boot only keeps you dry up to its height, so a 6" ankle deck boot is built for decks, docks and mud, not for wading.

Do XTRATUF boots fit true to size?

Most XTRATUF boots fit true to size, so start with your normal shoe size. Many styles come in whole sizes only and rubber boots don't stretch, so if you're between sizes or plan to wear thick socks, size up. Fit varies slightly by model, so check the size chart on each product page.

Why are XTRATUFs called the "Alaskan Sneaker"?

XTRATUF was developed in the 1950s for commercial fishermen working Alaska's slippery decks. The boots became so universal there that people wear them everywhere: on the boat, around town and out to dinner, which earned them the nickname.

What's the difference between the Legacy Boot and the Ankle Deck Boot?

The Legacy Boot is XTRATUF's original 15" tall boot for maximum splash and mud protection. The Ankle Deck Boot is a 6" pull-on version with the same chevron grip, lighter and quicker to slip on for boating, fishing and everyday wear.

Are XTRATUF boots good for hunting and fishing in Arkansas?

They're a great fit for wet, muddy days around the water: boat ramps, duck boat decks, bank fishing and farm chores. The chevron outsole grips slick aluminum and wet concrete, and the waterproof build handles mud and standing water up to the boot's height.

How do I clean and care for my XTRATUF boots?

Rinse your boots with fresh water after use, especially after salt or mud exposure, and let them air dry naturally. Avoid direct heat sources like heaters or dryers, which can damage rubber and neoprene over time.

Can I try on XTRATUF boots in store?
