On October 3, 1526, Mastro Bartolomeo Beretta of Gardone Val Trompia sold 185 arquebus barrels to the Arsenal of Venice for 296 ducats. That invoice — still preserved in the Venice State Archives — marks the beginning of a manufacturing legacy that has never been interrupted.

For nearly five centuries, the Beretta family has passed their knowledge of fine arms-making from father to son, generation to generation. Today, under the 16th generation of family ownership, Beretta remains headquartered in the same valley in Brescia, Italy where Bartolomeo first forged his barrels — combining centuries of artisanal tradition with the most advanced manufacturing technology in the firearms industry.

From the battlefields of Europe to Olympic gold medals on the clays course, from the U.S. Military's M9 service pistol to the finest over-and-under shotguns ever crafted — Beretta's reputation was earned across 500 years and continues to be earned every day in the field.

Common Questions
Beretta Firearms FAQ

Everything you need to know about buying Beretta firearms from DNW Outdoors — from the A400 Xtreme Plus vs A300 Ultima decision to FFL transfers and warranty coverage.

Is DNW Outdoors an authorized Beretta dealer?

Yes — DNW Outdoors is a fully authorized Beretta dealer in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Every Beretta firearm we sell is 100% genuine, covered under the full manufacturer warranty, and ships to your local FFL dealer.

What is the difference between the Beretta A400 and A300?

Both are excellent semi-automatic shotguns but serve slightly different hunters. The A400 Xtreme Plus is Beretta's flagship gas-operated semi-auto — featuring the Blink action system that cycles faster than any competitor, Kick-Off recoil reduction (on select models), and premium fit and finish. It's the choice for serious duck hunters who shoot heavy loads in extreme conditions. The A300 Ultima is Beretta's proven, more accessible semi-auto — built on the same reliable Italian engineering with a simpler action and lower price point. The A300 Ultima is one of the best-selling hunting shotguns in America and an excellent value. If budget is a concern, the A300 is a fantastic gun. If you want the absolute best Beretta makes in semi-auto shotguns, the A400 is worth every dollar.

What is the Beretta Silver Pigeon and who is it for?

The Silver Pigeon series is Beretta's flagship over-and-under shotgun line — built on the legendary 680 series action that has set the benchmark for over-unders for decades. The Silver Pigeon is ideal for upland hunting (quail, pheasant, dove), sporting clays, and trap shooters who want a reliable, beautiful Italian shotgun that holds its value and lasts a lifetime. Available in multiple grades (I through V) with varying levels of engraving and wood quality. If you're looking for your first serious over-under or a move up from a lesser gun, the Silver Pigeon I is one of the finest values in the market.

What is the best Beretta shotgun for duck hunting in Arkansas?

For duck and goose hunting in Arkansas — flooded timber, green timber holes, and big water — the A400 Xtreme Plus is Beretta's purpose-built waterfowl shotgun. It's rated for 3.5" magnum loads, features a synthetic stock in Mossy Oak or MAX-5 camo, and the Blink gas system handles anything you run through it — from light 2.75" loads to the heaviest bismuth and steel waterfowl loads on the market. The A300 Ultima in camo is also a strong option for hunters who want reliable performance at a lower price.

How does buying a Beretta firearm work — what is the FFL process?

When you purchase a firearm from DNW Outdoors, it ships directly to a licensed FFL dealer near you. You provide the name and address of your local gun store at checkout. We ship to them, they contact you when it arrives, and you complete your paperwork and background check in person before taking possession. DNW Outdoors is also a fully licensed FFL dealer — if you are in the Jonesboro, AR area you are welcome to pick up in store.

What warranty comes with a Beretta firearm purchased from DNW Outdoors?

All Beretta firearms sold through DNW Outdoors are covered under Beretta's standard manufacturer warranty. Beretta USA provides a limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Because we are an authorized dealer, your warranty is fully valid and can be serviced through Beretta's authorized service network. Keep your receipt as proof of purchase for any warranty service.

What choke tubes should I use in my Beretta A400 or A300 for duck hunting?

For steel shot in duck hunting, you should use chokes rated for steel — typically Improved Cylinder (IC) or Modified for most duck hunting distances. Beretta's A400 and A300 come with their Optimachoke HP extended choke system, which is designed and rated for steel, bismuth, and tungsten loads. Never run steel shot through a full choke not rated for steel — it can damage the barrel. For close-range flooded timber shooting, IC is ideal. For longer shots over decoys in open water, Modified gives better pattern density. Ask our team for specific recommendations based on where and how you hunt.

Does DNW Outdoors carry Beretta pistols and handguns?

Yes — we carry Beretta pistols including the iconic 92FS (the civilian version of the M9 U.S. Military pistol), the modern APX series striker-fired pistols, and other Beretta handgun models. All pistol purchases require transfer through an FFL dealer. Call us at (870) 938-0080 or check our online inventory for current pistol availability.
