Patterns

What is GORE Optifade concealment?

Optifade is Sitka's family of concealment patterns. Instead of copying bark or leaves the way traditional camo does, Optifade is designed around how game animals see. It pairs a large-scale pattern that breaks up your outline with a small-scale pattern that helps you blend into the background, so you read as part of the environment rather than as a predator.

What is the best Sitka pattern for duck hunting in Arkansas?

For flooded green timber and buckbrush, go with Optifade Timber. Sitka designed it for timber duck hunting and says it is most effective in the Mississippi and Central flyways, which puts Arkansas right in its wheelhouse.

If you hunt rice fields, layout blinds or open marsh, Optifade Marsh is the better match. Shop both in our Sitka waterfowl collection.

What is the best Sitka pattern for whitetail hunting?

Optifade Elevated II is Sitka's treestand whitetail pattern for the mid to late season. It was developed with deer researchers at the University of Georgia and is built to break up your silhouette when a deer looks up at you.

Optifade Cover is Sitka's newer pattern with more green and deeper shadow. It's aimed at dense eastern woods in the early and late season, which makes it a strong choice for thick Arkansas hardwoods and pines, from the stand or the ground.

Should I choose Elevated II or Optifade Cover?

If you mostly hunt from a treestand or saddle after the leaves drop, Elevated II is the specialist. If you hunt thick, green cover, hunt from the ground, or want one pattern that handles early season too, Cover is the more versatile pick. Plenty of our customers run both. Browse the Sitka whitetail collection.

Fit & Layering

How does Sitka Gear fit?

Sitka cuts its shells and insulated pieces with room to layer underneath without restricting movement. The safest way to size is to try outer layers on over the base and midlayers you plan to wear on your coldest hunt. If you're ordering online, call us and we'll help you pick a size.

How do I build a Sitka layering system?

Think in three layers. A base layer moves sweat off your skin. A midlayer adds warmth or wind protection. An outer shell handles rain, wind and cold. Match each layer to how hard you'll be moving: a long cold sit calls for heavier insulation, while a walk-in hunt or early-season sit calls for lighter, more breathable pieces you can add to as the day cools.

Does Sitka make hunting gear for women and youth?

Yes. Sitka's women's line is cut specifically for women, not scaled down from men's patterns, and its youth line puts the same technology in sizes for younger hunters. Shop women's Sitka and youth Sitka.

Tech & Care

Why is Sitka Gear more expensive than other hunting clothing?

You're paying for premium materials such as GORE-TEX, WINDSTOPPER and PrimaLoft insulation, for Optifade concealment, and for a system where every layer is engineered to work with the next. Sitka is owned by W.L. Gore & Associates, the maker of GORE-TEX, and the gear is built to hold up season after season in hard conditions.

Who makes Sitka Gear?

Sitka Gear was founded in 2005 and is based in Bozeman, Montana. It is owned by W.L. Gore & Associates, the company behind GORE-TEX.

How do I wash Sitka GORE-TEX gear?

Always follow the care label first. As a general rule for GORE-TEX outerwear: close all zippers and flaps, wash on a warm cycle with a small amount of liquid detergent, skip fabric softener and bleach, and rinse twice. Tumble dry on warm to help restore the water-repellent finish. Regular washing actually helps a shell perform, since dirt and body oils reduce breathability.
